Being a Christian Employer means running your organization in a manner that does not flout any of the principles of the Bible. It means first and foremost to serve God by serving Humanity. Thus being a Christian employer means being a just employer, primarily - one who understands the needs of his employees and treats them with care. A Christian employer will never treat his employees as his servants as that is opposed to the preaching of Jesus. On the other hand Christianity preaches that favor of God is obtained by serving humanity. We see in the Bible, in Matthew 22:36-40, that Jesus says that the two greatest commandments are "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" and ''Love your neighbor as yourself." And in Colossians 4:1 it is written, "And masters, treat your servants considerately. Be fair with them. Don't forget for a minute that you, too, serve a master - God in heaven." Thus being a Christian Employer means first and foremost to be a humane employer. Some employers try to use the carrot and stick policy to make their employees work. It means that they give the employees some benefit because of good work and threats of sacking when they fail to perform. Employers must understand that this is not a Christian way of working. This is the result of a mentality that assumes that the employer is the owner of the employees and almost makes the employees his servants or slaves. On the other hand Christianity asks the employer to lead by serving. Doing that an employer earns the love and respect of the employees. Christianity strictly prohibits mistreating or abusing any person and that includes employees too. A Christian employer must not be driven by profit into forcing their employees to overwork or work for less than what they should get. The employer must take care that each and every worker is getting a fair deal and is not suffering in any way in the workplace. Any Christian is required to be of service to humanity. A Christian employer should take care that the workplace is healthy and hygienic and conditions are favorable for work. It is also required by Christianity that the employer should be aware of the needs and problems of his employees. If any of them falls sick or has a pressing problem it is against Christianity to sack them. On the other hand the employer should be empathetic towards them and provide them with some support I necessary. It is the duty of a Christian employer to provide welfare facilities and also to do something for the neighborhood. Christianity prohibits the discrimination of people and any sort of unjust or unfair treatment to anyone. Such principles require an employer to treat all his employees equally and as fellow human beings. A Christian employer must not indulge in any sort of favoritism. Nobody should get any preferential treatment by doing favors to the employer or by being acquainted or related to the employer. The Christian employer must never be unfair to a person or be discriminating because the person belongs to a different faith or practices atheism. Christianity does not require this and it prohibits such practices. Following these principles one can be a Christian employer.
