Places to Go on Valentine's Day

By: Laura J. Moore

What to do for Valentine’s Day? It comes up every year. If you are trying to think of some places you could go for Valentine's Day then you are in luck. There are, in fact, many different places you could go and many of them will not cost you much money at all. Obviously, the first place most people think of is a fancy restaurant. If you can get a reservation and can afford it, then that is great. This is a tradition that many people love. However, it’s not very creative. Whatever you do, never, ever end up at a fast food chain on Valentine’s Day. Eating at home is a much better choice.

Plan a quiet evening at home and a wonderful, romantic meal. You can cook just about anything your heart desires as long as it is something that you would not normally make for dinner. This is what will make it so much more special than all of the other nights that you find yourself eating at home. It doesn’t have to be complicated to be romantic and special.

After dinner, no matter where you ate, you will want to go for a little adventure. If it is snowing where you live, you can take advantage of the beautiful white surroundings and take a walk through the snow. It’s a romantic and inexpensive way to celebrate the day. Of course, you will want to make sure that the two of you really bundle up and make sure that you are only walking in places that you know well and that are safe. Being mugged is not at all romantic.

If walking in the snow is not your thing or you simply do not live somewhere where it snows, there are many other options for you. You could visit an ice-skating or roller skating rink and have a little fun. This is something that would be out of the ordinary for the Valentine's holiday but that is what would make it so special. If money is not an object, you could always rent the entire place for yourselves. That would surely be an evening to remember.

Another thing you can do is to take a walk, or drive, down memory lane. If you still live near the same area where you met, had your first date or where you first lived together, you might want to take a drive past all of those places, sharing thoughts and memories with each other. This is a great way to bring some romance to the night without spending more than the gasoline money it will take to get you from place to place.
As you can see, there is a wide variety of things you can do for the Valentine's Day holiday. And, most of them are not expensive. You do not have to sit at home moping, even if you did not get the reservation to the super fancy and over priced restaurant. Having fun with the love of your life is much more important than where you celebrate.
